Balance of power

For everyone who criticizes the system.  It's not perfect.  It survived assassinations, Presidential deaths, hearings, and resignations.

Executive

Legislative

Judicial

It took a long time to set this system up and is was designed for a balance of powers.  It works and will continue to work. We are not a vigilante country.

We are not a vigilante country.

However, the election of 2016 is heading us in different direction from a balance of powers.  White supremacy, Trump supremacy, calling the media (any and all of it) unfair if they criticize you is trying to squelch democracy.

Let's hope this is a one term presidency and  the damage can be  fixed.

Lets keep our balance of power balanced.

Remember when Trump’s son approached John Kasich about the VP position, it was made clear that Kasich would do the actual work while Trump went around “making America great.” (whatever that means! I mean really!).

Mike Pence ended up taking that job, so yes Trump is terrifying at the top of the ticket, but Mike Pence can be just as terrifying doing the actual job.

Here are some Pence views:

This has been another eventful year surrounding cats.  I think I must have been born from one.  I started feeding a mother cat and her kittens last fall and continued feeding them through the winter months.  I started with a feeding station behind the city park at the edge of the woods.  A few quick kitty calls would bring in Mommy and her last kitten.  We got to know each other pretty good.  I ended up with another small group of juveniles that were probably from her previous litters. Fed them at a different location.

I hoped to get Mommy before another pregnancy, but,  egads, missed that one.  I finally caught her in the middle of March of this year and she gave me six lovely little kittens a week later.  Here are  her babies.  It's been a real experience taking care of them all year.  Watching them grow  from babyhood to juveniles and seeing them bond and be ready for adoption.
Mommy and babies at 1 day.

Mommy is one of the sweetest cats.  She's still learning to trust and be petted, but she's getting there.  She was recently spayed and got all her shots.  She will stay with me as long as possible.

Babies are a handful.  All females, all six of them. Alice, Abby, April, Donna, Buffy, and Star.

When together, they are very competitive.  Very playful, and  eager to be petted .  I have some of them with a local group up for adoption.  Hope they find new homes soon.  They are all on Petfinder also.

Here's more recent pics of them.  I will keep writing about each of them in future posts.

My buddies

Change Is Constant

Tic-toc, tic-toc, every second, every minute, every hour, every day, change is onging.  So many of us do not want change to happen, so we adhere to schedules and routines that keep us safe and secure in the knowledge that sameness is there. Time will never catch up with us.  Surprise! How wrong we are. We change, we're changing, the world around us changes, and so does our environment.  We can call it growing, aging, or just life.  It doesn't escape us.  What was there two years ago is gone now.

Seasonal changes rest deeply within me. I watch the colors of each season emerge and wane.  Summer is promises kept, and winter is hope for what is to come.  Greys, reds and browns cover the winter hills now. I can't wait for the fresh, new greens and rainbow bursts of spring color.

Smiling faces warm the days of spring and summer.  Family is here now,  but some of them are gone also. Warm memories are like the distant foggy hills. Some memories stay fresh and  remind me of the best that family gives. Kids, grand kids, fresh young faces bubbling over keep me joyful and full of hope.

As an animal lover, I ponder the loss of my two oldest kitties this winter.  I miss them and I remember all that we have been through together.  There has been a lot changes for me and for them since I found them both in Austin, TX.  Good buddies and friends to the end. I will pet their buddies as affectionately as I can and remember them. You see, they came right off the street, as I rescued them and then made them my friends.  I think they changed my life and many of the constants in it. Rest in peace my friends.
